UTFCCA awards two SCC Track & Field athletes National POW honors

St. Charles Community College competed in their first Track & Field meet in school history last weekend (3/20) at the Central Methodist Open in Fayette, MO. This is one year later than anticipated due to COVID-19 related shutdowns, so the Cougars made the best of their time by committing to preparation for the season. This strong start was led by Ryan Pendergast and Elisabeth Dunn who both earned National Athlete of the Week honors from their performances. Both athletes ran personal bests in the 1500 Meter Run, and later came back to strong performances in their respective events. Elisabeth competed in the 1500 Meter Run and the 3000 Meter Run alongside her teammate, Emily Jesse. Ryan ran the 1500 Meter Run in a time of 4:28, leading his teammates Sean Scott and Luke Montani by example. Ryan, Sean, and Luke were joined by Devon Fanning later in the day to run the 4 x 800 Meter Relay where they placed third to earn 6 points for the team. Josh Butters held his own in the field events with impressive season opening performances in the Javelin, Shot Put, 110 Meter High Hurdles, and the 400 Meter Intermediate Hurdles. The Cougars look to keep the momentum of this strong start going as their inaugural season progresses.
