SCC makes history in first ever XC meet

This past Saturday (8/31), St. Charles Community College competed in their first cross country meet in school history at the Principia College Cross Country Open in Elsah, IL. After a solid month of practices, the Cougars were ready to be put to the test. The men competed in the 6-kilometer race, and the women competed in the 4-kilometer race.

On the men's side, sophomore Edwin Kipainoi led the team to a 4th place finish by taking 1st individually in a field of 42 runners. Edwin completed his 6-kilometer race in a time of 20:49. Freshman Todd Wollin was not too far behind, placing 6th overall with a time of 22:43. Freshman Ethan Lobdell came through with a 15th place finish in a time of 23:35. Former high school teammates Tommy Campbell and Jordan Carter finished out the scoring, getting 32nd and 38th respectively.

With injuries on the women's side, the women's team was not eligible for team scoring. The shorthanded Cougars look to get back on track in the upcoming meets.

The next meet on St. Charles Community College's schedule is the University of Illinois-Springfield Prairie Star Invitational. The women's 5k race will start at 5:30PM, and the men's 7k will follow at 6:15PM.
