SCC Baseball 2019 Season Recap

SCC Baseball 2019 Season Recap

The 2019 SCC Cougars made huge strides on the field!  The Cougars achieved a 20-20 overall record and a 16-16 conference record, both were the best marks in over a decade for the Cougars baseball program.  The Cougars also sent nine Sophomores onto four year programs and counting, including four NCAA Division I commits.  In the classroom, the Cougars improved their team GPA almost a full point from the fall to the spring season.  We thank Coach Bolen for a great first season!

SCC Baseball by the Numbers:

The Cougars were led by Ryan Brink, Manny Garcia and Alec Kubik who all entered the top three in several school record categories in the rain-shortened 2019 season.  The #SCCougs were short nearly 20 regular season games!  Brink tossed six complete games, good for just one away from tying the school record.  He also picked up seven wins, good for third in a single season history!  Kubik reached 20 appearances overall on the season flipping from the rotation into the closer role quite frequently. The 20 APPs are good for third in school history for a single season.  Fellow Sophomore Alex Spangler reached 18 appearances out of the pen, good for fifth in a single season!  On the offensive side, Manny Garcia led the way at the plate slashing .423/.526/.626 while stealing 21 bases, good for third in SCC's single season history and bashing four Home Runs.  The .423 batting average was good for second all-time in SCC history and also good for 2019's 24th overall in NJCAA Division 1!

Several Cougars had phenomenal years on the diamond and helped take the team make the playoffs after a lengthy drought.

"We are extremely excited for the future of the SCC baseball program and can't wait for the 2019-20 season to get under way," said Tim Brix, SCC Director of Athletics.
