Softball Welcomes 13

Head Coach Dustin Wengert is excited to announce his 2024 recruiting class, that will feature 13 new faces to the program.  It will also cover four states (Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas).  "I am excitied for this group!  We have worked hard as a staff to build something here and build a place where kids want to be.  I think we can officially say is starting to happen", Wengert commented.  "I thank these girls and their familys for believe in me and my staff and entrusting us with growing them as young women and better softball players.  We will continue to work with them on and off the field, so that they are ready for their next stop after SCC. This group will be fun to coach and fun to watch." 

Emily Parson - Mulhall, OK - "Emily joins us from the FFS National 2024 team.  She is quick and aggressive in her decsion making!  Her softball IQ is something that really stood out to us! She is come in and immediately compete for a spot in the middle infield." 

Kylee Stortz - Perryville, MO - "Kylee is coming from the JeffCo Express program.  She is the sister to Alyson Stortz who will be in the cirlce for us this year. Kylee has good arm and handle pitchers very well.  She will be someone to help us guide our pitching staff"

Julia Joerling - Wentzville, MO - "Julia is coming to us from the Defience Elite program.  Julia is an under the radar player.  She is coming from a really good high school team, that had so much talent.  I wouldn't be surprised if Julia wins a starting job next year, and that job could be at 3-4 different spots" 

Addy Thornton - Bartonville, IL - "Addy is coming from the Heartland Havoc program.  Addy has the ability to play multiple position on the field, she really fit into what we were looking for...athletic and versatile! She has very strong work ethic and desire to win."

Isbell Priddy - Arlington, TX - "Isbell is coming from Athletics Mercado NXT 18U (Garcia) team.  We needed a catcher and had an idea what we wanted one to look like.  Isbell is that, strong arm, good bat, ability to hit for power over time.  This kid could be shomething special to watch as she grows. 

Emily Budd - Katy, Tx - "Emily is coming from Beasts Elite National 18U team.  Emily is super athletic can play anywhere in the outfield, and is just smooth in doing alot of things on the softball field.  Once she breaks out of her shell, watch out!" 

Hayli Venable - Sullivan, MO - "Hayli is coming from the Texas Blaze organization.  Hayli can play anywhere on the field.  We really like the way she defends, and see some good things in her swing as well.  Great local addition."

Hannah Cantrell - Carl Junction, MO - "Hannah is coming to us from Regal Athletic." Spunky!! Great energy, great speed and another athlete we can move around the field.  She will find her way on the field one way or another." 

Zoey Robinson - St. Peters, MO - "Zoey is coming to us from the Missouri Mariners. A bit of a surprise get for us, but boy are we excitied! True ATHLETE! Can do anything she wants on a softball field, and do them well."

Maddy Siefert - Wentzville, MO - "Maddy is coming to us from the Missouri Mariners.  Super strong kid, with the ability to play the corners.  Maddy is somebody we think will bring the thump in the lineup."

Morgan Thomas - St. Peters, MO  - "Morgan also join us from the Missouri Mariners program.  Fast kid with the ability to understand what is needed.  If, Morgan can stay within herself and be who she is, she will be very successful here at SCC." 

Lexie Griggs - St. Peters- MO - "Lexie is joining us from the Missouri Bombers organization.  Super versitale kid, that can run.  We can see Lexie getting time behind the plate or in the outfield.  Just great kid that we are excitied about."

Chloe Turnbull - Foley, MO - "Chloe is coming from the Missouri Gators orginzation. Chloe excieted us this past summer with her speed.  She is coming from a high school program that just went to the Final Four, so she know what it takes to win too.  Great local product that stays home." 

 

"I can see this being a really special group that is super athletic! There is no doubt they will push each other to be better, and give us depth that we haven't had in a long time here at SCC," Wengert said. 

 

For now Wengert are the Cougars are prepping for first pitch on February 17th, where they will take on Rend Lake and Shawnee in Ste. Genevieve, MO.  Then will head to Vicksburg, MS the following weekend.
