2023 SCC Pre-Season Preview!
"We are fired up for the 2023 season, we made a huge jump as a program in the 2022 season by getting to 30 wins but feel that's just a stepping stone on where we believe this program can go! We have a great group of returning Sophomore guys with experience and an exciting and competitive group of Freshmen that have pushed everyone to get better! #SCCougs..." The #SCCougs are ready to open up next week for their 1st game of the year where they will look to build off of their first 30 win season since 2001! On offense, SCC is returning 8 SO's that led one of the most potent offenses in all of NJCAA baseball. Those sophomores include Evan Funkhouser, Konner Hutchings, Cameron Roll, Justin Massingale, Drew Cornelison, Joshua Cunniff, Daley Thompson and Kole Younger. Konner Hutchings leads all returners with 118 PA's from the 2022 season and a very impressive Freshmen campaign where he hit a Batting Average .359 with 10 XB's hits including 3 HR's and 29 RBI's. Cameron Roll returns for the Cougars offense as the all-time SCC Baseball On-Base % leader and a 2022 season that saw Cam finish 2nd on the team with a .431 Batting Average!
On the mound, the #SCCougs will return six arms that all made an impact for the 2022 pitching staff. Brady Heinzmann, Jackson Wells, Gavin Wilson, Connor Carter, Andrew Castelli and Nick Sharp all return with at least 10+ Innings Pitched from last years squad. Heinzmann is returning after a Freshmen season that saw him make 9 starts and log 37.1 IP and log 36 K's as a member of the starting rotation. Connor Carter and Jackson Wells both finished the season with solid efforts as they helped the staff to 6 additional wins combined on the year and came up huge in a variety of different roles!
